NAPCO Provides Refinishers with Opportunity to Replace Entire Refinishing Supply Inventory

North American Polymer Company, also known as NAPCO, is pleased to announce its 2018 Inventory Trade-Up Program. This free Program provides refinishers with the opportunity to replace bathtub and kitchen refinishing products, including additives, cleaners, primers, coatings and chemicals. NAPCO’s extension of its Inventory Trade-Up Program is available just in time for summer, which is known in the industry as refinishers’ peak season.

napco inventory trade up offer

The Inventory Trade-Up Program was developed specifically for refinishers who wish to upgrade their current refinishing supply inventory to NAPCO’s advanced product line. Previously, NAPCO’s Trade Up Program was only available during the summer months, but due to the program’s popularity, the Trade-Up Program will now run year-round.

In order to take advantage of this offer, follow the instructions as followed:
1.    Call NAPCO to confirm the competitor from whom the supplies were purchased.
2.    Box up current professional refinishing supplies.
3.    NAPCO will send a shipping label to cover all shipping costs free-of-charge.
4.    Once the supplies ship, NAPCO will replace the entire supply of inventory with equal value NAPCO products for free.

“We are proud to offer this program, not only to NAPCO-certified refinishers, but to all refinishers who have purchased competitor products that do not compare to our line,” said Steve Zamborsky, Head of Research and Development of NAPCO. “Many refinishers have switched to NAPCO’s product line over the years for its superior product quality and state-of-the art technology. We believe in our professional bathtub and kitchen refinishing products so much that we will incur the cost of replacing refinishers’ non-NAPCO products.”

For a complete list of competitor stock NAPCO accepts, call its toll-free customer service hotline at 1-800-888-1081.

NAPCO, a leading provider of bathroom and kitchen refinishing products, as well as contractor training, is pleased to announce the launch of its enhanced refinishing training program.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new product line, “NAPCO Essentials” for the refinishing market! The first products in the new environmentally-friendly refinishing line are formulated specifically for use in the kitchen. NAPCO is actually the only manufacturer in the refinishing industry to offer a 1K waterborne coating! The products, developed at our home office in Skokie, IL, mark an important expansion for us from bathroom refinishing into the kitchen and additional areas of the home.

“In the past, our products and contractor trainings have been focused on refinishing for the bathroom,” explained Steve Coven, owner and CEO of NAPCO. “Increasing our product variety, especially in the waterborne category, to include kitchen countertop and cabinet options is a logical expansion for NAPCO as a refinishing industry innovator. We are excited to launch our new “Essential” Line and our kitchen refinishing training program this year,” Coven added.

NAPCO Essentials Kitchen Renew Coatings“NAPCO Essentials” line launches with “Kitchen Renew,” three waterborne refinishing coatings products for kitchen cabinets and countertops. The new products are formulated to save contractors’ time with all-in-one benefits that include no thinner, no catalyst and no mixing. The countertop products can be sprayed wet-over-wet and level to a smooth finish. There’s no waiting for counters to dry and no sanding to level the finish! Additional benefits include drying to tack in twenty minutes and easy soap and water clean-up. “Kitchen Renew” cabinet coatings meet or exceed the specifications set by Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association after application.

The products come in a satin clear countertop coating that functions as a top coat over NAPCO’s popular Flint-Stone, faux-granite product. The other two “Kitchen Renew” products are kitchen cabinet coatings, both featuring a satin finish. One comes in white that can be easily tinted to match light tones and pastels, and the other is clear and can be customized to create almost any color.

“One of the main reasons that we are branching out into kitchen refinishing is because of our loyal customers,” continued Coven. “The recent gains in overall spending in the home remodeling industry indicate that quality refinishing services are going to be in higher demand. With our contractor training program and new “NAPCO Essentials” line, our contractors and our customers can capitalize on this trend by offering whole-home solutions to their clients.”

In addition to our new “NAPCO Essentials line,” we will also be enhancing our renowned refinishing training program to include instruction in kitchen refinishing. We are so excited to finally bring these amazing new products to you, our loyal refinishers!

As you most likely know, we’ve had a lot of amazing things happening at NAPCO these past few months! In November, we launched our refreshed brand and new website layout. In February, we were thrilled to officially name Dani Nichols as our new President, and March was the month we launched our brand-new Kitchen Renew product line.

Dani NicholsTo start the year off on a high note, NAPCO has named Dani Nichols as our new President. Nichols has been with the company for more than twenty years, most recently in the capacity of Vice President. Late last year, we unveiled our new branding and complete e-commerce website overhaul, and Nichols’ appointment only adds to the exciting developments taking place here at NAPCO.

Nichols’ leadership at NAPCO has been essential over the years, as she expertly managed a wide host of projects and departments. Nichols attributes her success at NAPCO to Steve Coven, NAPCO’s owner and former President. She stated, “I owe my career at NAPCO to Steve Coven, NAPCO’s visionary who saw potential in me that I didn’t even see in myself.” Coven will remain the company’s CEO and plans to dedicate his expertise and passion to innovating new refinishing technologies for the company.

“I am so proud of Dani and how far she has come,” commented Coven. “There is no one I would trust more to take over the role of President. With Dani managing the operations side of business, I can get back to doing what I love most; creating new refinishing products to help further the industry and our clients.”

On her new appointment, Nichols said, “I am so grateful for the whole team here, because without them I would not be NAPCO’s President. They really are NAPCO. I am honored to be able to coach and mentor this team.” She is eager and enthusiastic to implement her ideas and expertise as our President, and remains dedicated to her team.

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes along the way and learned a lot, and I’ve come to realize that the whole team at NAPCO, and the work they do, are my proudest accomplishments,” expressed Nichols. “Helping others discover their best possible selves is the reason I show up every day. This purpose is my north star.”

Simon Newton, head of training at NAPCO

Our wonderful refinishing trainer, Simon, recently had the pleasure of appearing on Mighty House Home Improvement Radio to discuss all things NAPCO. The hosts of this Chicago-based program, Ron Cowgill and Robbie Ehrhardt, interviewed Simon on the capabilities and benefits of home refinishing, and what makes NAPCO products so unique within the coatings industry.

Mighty House Radio

Ron and Robbie were especially impressed with NAPCO’s ability to provide resurfacing for Formica countertops, as even these home improvements experts believed that Formica has to be torn out and tossed when it becomes damaged. They also enjoyed Simon’s description of NAPCO’s 27 resurfacing color options, joking that the purple countertop coating would be perfect for Evanston’s Northwestern fans!

Simon also described NAPCO’s 2-day refinishing certification program, as well as refinishing options when it comes to vinyl, marble, and cast-iron tubs. The hosts were interested to hear about NAPCO’s low-VOC products and that the refinishing process is not nearly as smelly as it used to be!

To listen to the full interview, you can visit the 1590 WCGO website, or take a look at the video above!

Recent studies have shown that remodeling has seen an upward trend among U.S. homeowners this year, and is showing no signs of stopping as we begin the new year. Much of this increase can be attributed to the 2017 housing inventory crisis. As fewer homes are put on the market, those who might have potentially looked to sell their home are staying put instead, for fear that they may not be able to find a suitable replacement. This shortage is having interesting effects on both the remodeling industry and millennial homebuyers.

As millennials make up more and more of the active work force, they are also on the lookout for homes to buy. However, this is a difficult task for most members of this generation, as they do not have the financial benefits of selling a previous home. Add this to the inventory crisis, and it’s a tough market out there for young people searching for an affordable house. As such, the construction and remodeling industries are turning away from the high-value homes that they have typically concentrated on in the past, and are refocusing on cheaper, entry-level homes that millennials will be more likely to pursue.

This shift in the marketplace is having another unexpected effect; namely, the number of millennials moving to the suburbs is increasing. This is surprising as millennials have historically flocked to urban centers for the employment opportunities and exciting entertainment, but the housing shortage is forcing them farther away from city centers in search of affordable options.

refinished claw-foot bathtubAll of these changes have important implications for those in the remodeling and refinishing industries. In general, the need for these types of services is going to be greater, as the lack of affordable housing options will force homeowners to update their existing living situation, instead of simply moving houses as they may have done in the past.

In order for refinishers to capitalize on this shift in the market, they need to begin targeting sectors of the population that they may not have focused on in the past. Generating awareness about your business within the millennial population will be essential, as these young homeowners will be looking to fix up their entry-level homes. Targeting homes in the suburbs is also a great strategy for enterprising refinishers, as families and young people alike will be looking to remain in their homes for years to come.

If you need assistance reaching out to these markets, NAPCO is here to help. We can provide you with marketing strategies and suggestions to get your name out there!
